About The Scar Healing Project

Making scar tissue release therapy accessible to all

Our Story

We provide free clinics that offer this scar tissue treatment to eliminate barriers between you and the healing you deserve.

Our founder, Marjorie Brook, LMT, has spent decades developing better ways to support people suffering with scar tissue-related symptoms. Because of a lack of support in this area, she decided to form The Scar Healing Project to offer relief and help restore quality of life.

Our Vision

The Scar Healing Project offers a holistic therapy method to help relieve the symptoms your scarring causes. We support you every step of the way, releasing scar tissue and rehabilitating the body to alleviate pain, dysfunction, and loss of sensation caused by your scar tissue. If you experience limitation due to scarring, you deserve to work with professionals who understand what you’re going through. Our experts know how this tissue restricts and impacts the body’s systems below the surface. We offer the STRAIT Method™ a type of scar tissue therapy that can help rehabilitate your body and achieve the quality of life you deserve.

Through research, data collection, and education, we plan to increase awareness about the need to incorporate specialized treatment for scarring and adhesions into the healing process. We hope our work will change the way doctors and therapists treat patients like you, spreading awareness and training so they can include the STRAIT Method™ in the treatments they provide.

What We Do

We’re presenting the STRAIT Method™ as a necessary complement to your healing process. You’ll receive treatment for scar tissue with a holistic approach, working with understanding specialists to regain sensation and functionality and reduce your scar-related pain.

We plan to help patients from all walks of life access this life-changing scar tissue therapy. Our free clinic program was designed to be replicated in any state or county, and ultimately, across the nation. We’re opening our first clinics to veterans on the path to healing, with plans to treat people with scars from burns, C-sections, mastectomies, and other surgeries.

As we work to help patients like you, we’ll gather data through surveys to demonstrate the efficacy of the STRAIT Method™ for alleviating severe pain. All of our efforts are aimed toward helping you live a healthier, more active, and independent lifestyle through a balanced and supportive rehabilitation plan.

Meet The Board Of Directors

Your support system for scar healing

Marjorie Brook, President and Founder

Marjorie Brook is a licensed massage therapist (LMT), author and international educator, and founder of The Scar Healing Project. Over her 20 years practising as an LMT, she noticed a recurring pattern: the heavy impact of scar tissue on the body.

Marjorie realized scar tissue could have lifelong physiological effects — a fact that seems to have eluded traditional healthcare professionals. Her experiences led her to develop the STRAIT Method™ to release restricted tissues and restore balance and freedom of movement.

Marjorie offers seminars and lectures on her method at hospitals, medical centers, schools, and continuing education companies for healthcare professionals and trainers around the world.

Phyllis Morrissey, Secretary

Phyllis Morrissey retired in 2009 after a 30-year career in the US Postal Service. She started as a clerk and retired as the Manager of customer service in charge of a 100+ person office.

During her career, Phyllis mentored and trained many people who went on to high-level management positions. As a retiree, she is still involved in a postal supervisor association (NAPS), serving as the New York State Secretary/Treasurer.

Phyllis also serves on the Board of Directors for the Triboro Postal Federal Credit Union. She holds the position of Secretary for this board. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband of nearly 48 years, Don, and their dog Jake.

Vickie Berberick, Board Member

Vickie has served the not-for-profit industry for over 30 years. She spent the majority of her time overseeing the monetary condition of facilities. Experiencing yearly audits is a major aspect of her job, and she has never failed an audit.

Vickie was also a CASA worker (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children removed from the home due to abuse or domestic violence and served as their voice in court. This was one of her most rewarding volunteer positions to date. Currently, Vickie serves as the CFO of a not-for-profit organization within the animal environment in addition to her support of our scar tissue release therapy clinics.
