The Scar Healing Project is a non-profit organization that offers an innovative scar tissue release therapy for patients suffering with scar-related limitations. We’d love to have you volunteer with us and help further our vision of offering scar tissue release therapy as an integral part of rehabilitative treatment.

Our volunteers are irreplaceable members of our team. They help us carry out our day-to-day work and make progress toward accessible and holistic scar tissue rehabilitation for all.

Did you know that volunteering can bring many benefits to you as well? Volunteering can help you learn new skills, gain experience, and even receive new qualifications. Through volunteering, you can challenge yourself to try something different, achieve personal goals, practice using your skills, and discover hidden talents.

Our Volunteers help directly with our clinics and research. They assist with administrative tasks like outreach, and they even help us with fundraising during annual events.

Volunteering helps every party involved, offering much-needed support to non-profits while also giving you many important tools to shape your future. In an effort to break down that impact, we’ve listed our top three benefits of volunteering.

We’d love to have you volunteer with The Scar Healing Project. Please send us an email at volunteers@thescarhealingproject.org to see how you can get involved.

Our top three benefits of volunteering

1. Decrease stress

Looking for new ways to decrease the stress in your life? Try volunteering!

Volunteering is proven to reduce stress, allowing you to interact with new people, donate your time to help others, and develop a new sense of appreciation for yourself.

Learning to appreciate all you’re doing for the community not only decreases your stress, it also teaches you healthy ways to manage your time and priorities. So, the next time you’re looking for ways to reduce stress, try volunteering and know that you’re not just helping those in need – you’re helping yourself as well.

2. Increase your confidence

Confidence helps with so many aspects of your everyday life. It’s what gives you an extra push to speak up for yourself or to make bolder decisions for your future.

However, confidence is a hard skill to develop because it’s rooted in kindness. Having the courage to be kind and help others through volunteering is a great way to increase your confidence at work, with your family, and with your friends.

When you volunteer, you learn to be confident for those who can’t be while exercising your speaking and presenting skills. The more practice you get at communicating with others, the more confident you’ll be in any area of your life.

3. Expand your connections

Networking is a great skill to have because it can further your career, business connections, and social life. Volunteering not only teaches you the confidence you’ll need to network, but it also opens new doors that can help you make great connections. From local community leaders to successful board members, volunteering connects you with a side of your community that you might not otherwise have a chance to meet.

Every time you volunteer locally, you expand your connections by meeting new, interesting leaders that see how much you care about your community. Try volunteering to open your heart and also open new doors. You never know who you’ll meet.

While the benefits of volunteering are always evolving, one thing remains true: it changes lives. Whether you have enough time to volunteer once a month or once a week, it will always be appreciated.
